Meet the artist: Thursday 11 December 2014 at 6 pm
Galen Gibson-Cornell (United States, b. 1987) is a visual artist working at the intersection of printmaking, photography, and urban commentary.
His work questions the role of prints and printed matter in urban landscapes–particularly dealing with colorful posters, street artwork, advertisements, and other ephemera that cover the exterior walls of many of the world’s cities.
In 2013, he received a Fulbright fellowship to explore the urban walls and poster culture of Budapest, Hungary.
His artwork has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across the United States and Europe. He has curated exhibitions in Berlin, Germany; and Florence, Italy; and lectured on his work at universities, museums, and academic conferences internationally.
