Etching is my media of choice. I enjoy exploring all the different aspects of the media by working and re-working the plate. Each plate has been threw many stages and it takes me weeks or sometime months to have a finished piece. The development of the plate is very important to me. I never start with an exact plan of action the work develops over time. My work is a refection of my ideas of verbal and physical communication.
Living in Italy my communication has been challenged and I found it easier to communicate these difficulties via the plate and the finished piece on paper. My work is linear; the work is a representation of communication. In my exploration of mark making the work shows, without a premeditative thought, different feelings and strengths and weaknesses, etc.
Recently my work has been not only about verbal communication but also about the relationships with others. I have started to use two plate that over lap to show how over time they continue to communicate or dissipate.
I will continue to explore these ideas via etching and they will only start to change as I change. The works are an extension of my emotions to create an aesthetic piece on paper. Each plate is manipulated with care and patience that reflect the events of my life.
