IF IT PLEASE YOU, LORD….. features a new series of works on paper from Keith Achepohl continuing his long standing relationship with the studio here at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica. The representation of the ex-voto and the represented wish are the subject of these powerful new drawings with trace monotypes. Ex-votos are powerful objects through which one can communicate a wish; where there is a need to ask a more powerful being to intercede and heal or give comfort for a personal problem. Ex-votos have been used in various forms since ancient times, by placing an ex-voto in a sacred place and having faith that a prayer could be answered.
