“Infinite Limits”presents a series of mosaics which stem from the desire to visualize and make a concept palpable. The field of inquiry is that of knowledge and how man experiences the problematic nature of wanting to understand what surrounds him, affirming and defining his knowledge on the one hand and on the other hand, how he clashes with the finiteness of his intellect by continually finding a drive that leads him to deepen, expand and question the knowledge he has learned in order to achieve new knowledge.
In the mosaic there are all the inseparable elements: matter, light and color.
Livio Savioli presents a series of mosaics entitled “Infinite Boundaries.” In this series the idea of boundary is seen in a positive sense, following Kant’s philosophy. The boundary separates us from a beyond that we can intuit but not fully comprehend. At least for the time being.
However, man’s nature leads to a continually shifting boundary, by defining new horizons of knowledge beyond which intuition asks new questions, issues and problems. This is why the boundaries that man sets as a definition seem to expand continuously and infinitely.
