Wave Lenghth. Collaborative Book Project

William Root has worked at the Scuola on three different occasions over the past few years and most of his work has been centered around the creation of collaborative art books. He and the poet Michael Lynch have collaborated on two limited edition art books using Venice and its surroundings as their theme; “Il Segreto de la Luce” and “Burano”. This work will be on display at the Scuola during the exhibition “Wave Length” on 2-5 November 2016 and both creators will be present for the opening on Wednesday 2 November starting at 17h30.
Michael Lynch is Irish. He was educated at Georgetown and Oxford and was Senior Lecturer in Literature at the University of Vienna. He taught at Johns Hopkins University, the American University in Paris, the École Polytechnique in France and also the Graduate Program in Education at the Michigan State University Program in England. He has published several books of poetry as well as a novel. He has recently completed his second novel. His opera libretto, The Magician, received the National Endowment for the Arts award. He lives in the South of France with his wife Joan.
William Root is an American painter, printmaker and art educator. He studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Michigan State University. He teaches fine arts at SHAPE International School (American Section) in Casteau, Belgium. He lives in Belgium and Thailand. His work resides in the permanent collection of BP Europe and in many private collections.
William Root é stato artista in residenza alla Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia in diverse occasioni nel corso degli ultimi anni e la maggior parte del suo lavoro è stato incentrato sulla creazione di libri d’arte nati dalla collaborazione con il poeta Michael Lynch.
Da questo connubio sono nati due libri d’arte in edizione limitata dedicati a Venezia ed i suoi dintorni; “Il Segreto della Luce” e “Burano”.
Le immagini sono state stampate in collaborazione con Roberta Feoli, printshopmanager ed insegnante della Scuola. I volumi saranno in mostra durante l’esposizione: “Lunghezza d’onda” dal 2 al 5 novembre 2016 presso la SG Gallery.
Mercoledì 2 novembre a partire dalle 16.00 l’artista William Root, l’autore Michael Lynch e l’incisore Roberta Feoli saranno presenti per l’apertura della mostra.
